Parents-
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. Your bears were eager to jump right back into school fun and to see their friends. They seemed excited to walk into CHRISTMAS as they entered the classroom on Monday.
We are learning about the letter “I” this week, and tomorrow it’s INSIDE OUT DAY! Please have your bear wear one (or more?) articles of clothing inside out. Also, the Pandas share something from home beginning with an I, and Thursday it’s the Polars turn.
Today we learned the following finger-play. I bet your bear can teach it to you. 🙂
3 little Christmas trees, standing all alone
their hearts were very sad, they did not have a home
soooo CHOP went the ax and DOWN came the tree
and off it went with a happy family!
(count down to zero trees standing)
Stay warm, brrr!

Jake’s Preschool Report Card
PreschoolThis is from Jake’s teacher Ms. Cathy on the accomplishment of the Bears Class Jake is in:
Dear Parents,
The BIGGEST highlight of the month is that we earned EIGHT STARS for good listening behavior! It took a while but we did it! We baked chocolate chip cookies and had a picnic on the floor of our snack room. Great fun.
Other activities included:
- “Grocery store” in our pretend center.
- Calvin’s dad came in made a scarecrow with us and read to us. Thanks, John!
- We made a stuffed whale after reading about Jonah during Chapel. We often call out to Jonah wondering if he is inside. We learned that Jonah should have listened to God the first time, just like we should listen to our parents and teacher the first time. 😉
- We learned the “gray squirrel bushy tail” song and painted squirrels and glued fluffy tails.
- We wore hats for letter “H” week.
- For letter “G” week we made a gumball picture and wore green.
- We painted and stuffed a big turkey for the hallway – some children wrote the word “gobble” for our turkey.
- Calvin’s mom brought in gourds for our science center and sensory tubs – thanks, Kristin! We later painted them and used them as centerpieces for our Feast.
- Sabryna’s mom read to us and brought her juicer from home so we could make carrot-apple-cantaloupe juice. It was a hit – thanks, Lauryn!
- Jake’s family donated gift wrap and tape for our December wrapping station – thanks Jason, Jessica and Nam.
- We learned the “Hello, Mr. Turkey…how are you?” movement song.
- We played a number site and clapping game and then used our HWT wood pieces to make numbers with partners.
- We made Thanksgiving wreaths, paper plate/pinecone turkeys and candle centerpieces.
- Monday was our Friendship Feast, and we felt like big kids eating with the other 4’s class and also the 5’s class. Thank you, parents, for helping serve and clean up, and Jen for taking photos.
- For our Feast we made headbands and placemats (be sure to take a peek at the back of the placemat).
- We discussed what we are thankful for, and we read many books about Thanksgiving.
- Sabryna’s dad, Sergio, posted a wonderful video from our Kelsey Creek field trip on Shutterfly. I hope you can check it out. Thanks, Sergio!
- Sabryna’s grandpa, Peter, is coming in to lead us in an exercise-movement session tomorrow. Thanks, Peter.
- We are celebrating Ashley’s birthday tomorrow. Thank you, Kelly Miller, for the goodies, and for being a fabulous room parent!
