Due Date Comes and Goes…7-19-2009

The day was finally here and we were ready but Jake was not.  We are so ready for this baby to come we can hardly stand it!  We started the day with a stop at the Fremont Troll and ended celebrating my Dad’s birthday in Bellevue.  We were all ready for Jake to come and share a birthday with my pop but no such luck!

Baby Shower – May 16, 2009

Jake was showered with lots of love at the baby shower on Saturday by both those that were able to attend and those that were there in spirit.  We feel so blessed to have so many awesome people in our life to welcome baby Jake into the world!

The shower was hosted by Julie Chase at her home in Wallingford (Seattle neighborhood) and by my sister, Melissa Cannon.  Julie did a wonderful job bringing all of the details to life in my favorite colors of blue and brown, providing guests with yummy teas, scrumptious foods and Trophy Cupcakes!  Aunt Melissa worked diligently with help from the fam on party favors of various teas complete with a poem and a funny parenting saying on each tea bag.

We had a great time playing celebrity bingo and everyone wrote messages on diapers to provide a good chuckle for the 3 am diaper changes.

Thank you so much for all the love and support of our growing little family!  Enjoy pics below from the big day…

Coachella 2009

We had a great time warming up in the Palm Springs area for Coachella 2009!  We finally have a good belly pic too at 6 months!

Week 22 – He responds to sound, rhythm and melody!

You’re 22 Weeks Pregnant. Your baby measures about 7.6 inches and weighs about 12.3 ounces. His muscles are getting stronger, and his eyelids and eyebrows have developed. Your baby’s acrobatics are pretty constant, and since he responds to sound, rhythm and melody, you can try singing and talking to him. After he’s born, the same sounds may soothe him.

Bean is not a big fan of bad music at the local venues but he’ll be exposed to excellent bands at Coachella next month and listens to his dad’s top picks every evening at home. 🙂

Baby’s Movin!

I started to feel Bean move this week!  He is most active right in the middle of the day.  Let’s hope he keeps that up all the way through post birth!  We also had another healthy doctor visit.  His heart beat is super cute and the belly is growing right on schedule.

18 Week Update…Bean’s reflexes are kicking in!

He can yawn, stretch and make facial expressions, even frown. Taste buds are beginning to develop and he can now distinguish sweet from bitter. The baby can suck and swallow, and he may even get the hiccups. The eyes have become sensitive to light, so if a bright light is shined on your belly, baby will probably turn away. Your uterus, about the size of a cantaloupe, can be felt just below your navel. You’re most likely feeling the baby move at this time.

Ultrasound Video

It’s kind of hard to tell if it is Bean’s leg or a piece of chicken in the womb, but here is a short video clip of our little boy grooving!
