What were we thinking? Bad haircuts, relationships, 1000+ days together in High School
Family GeneralIt was crazy to see everyone in real life in person. Truth is we don’t do a lot of talking. We are Generation Xers, we are Pre-Facebook and all we have are the stories between us, but we don’t have us instagraming while shotgunning a beer while going through some of the most difficult times in life. I don’t know that I took a single photo all night. In fact it was the first time in a very long time I wasn’t glued to my “screen” – cell phone, iPad, laptop, TV. It was great to just connect IN PERSON as it use to be done with the soft touch. To all the folks that organized the event – Shelly, Stephanie, Katie – thank you, cuz god knows I didn’t / couldn’t have arranged a reunion.
Things I Remembered Most at the Party
- Several stories that can’t be retold: Brad, Mitch, Bryan and Randy – I’m looking at each of you. Thank god there are no pictures or hard evidence.
- I was impressed I didn’t see a bunch of people staring at their phones
- Too the spouses in attendance – I don’t know how you dealt with this. 20 years of anxiety in one night. Thank you to all of you.
- Remembered that I had my first cigarette with Shawn Hale
- Dave Sanderson is still a stud and is a rocket scientist for Jeff Bezos
- Seeing folks I’ve known my whole life since elementary school [Angela, Niki, Stephanie, Dawn, Brad, Mitch, Bryan, Randy] #ifimisseduimsorry
- Cutting up the dance rug with Blythe [Closing down the dance floor]
- Getting to know some folks I never even knew or hung out with in high school [too many folks]
- Talking parenting with Ryan McNeice – his kids blue hair at one time and my kids turquoise toenails #itsdifferentatmyhouse
Few Pictures on My Camera [Thanks Jess]
To everyone I got to hang with (and those I didn’t) – thanks for making us feel so welcome and catching up. Feel free to email me at jason at jasongrimes dot com or Facebook.
